well, i celebrated my 35th birthday on 5/26 and it was wonderful. i washed my hair for the first time, by myself. after banding, i jumped in the shower and washed gently with dr.bonner's castile soap/ water 1:3 solution. after massaging scalp, and rinsing, i separated and counted all 483 locks. that's right, at 12 midnight, i counted each and every lock. happy birthday!!!. my cousin, sl for 2yrs came to visit from atlanta, ga. her locks are so pretty. we have pictures together. check them out.
ok, so 6 wks after starting my sl journey, it's time for a full retightening. besides some bushiness at the roots, i have the swelling of the locks that my consultant told me about. and that's fine . it just fills in my parts. but did anyone tell me about all the itching? i've had dry scalp with dandruff and seborrhea for years, but never itching. i did the big chop 10yrs ago because of my scalp flakes. haven't had much of a flaking problem while wearing my hair low and natural. that has all changed. there are flakes everywhere, and my scalp really itches. i clean my scalp with seabreeze and distilled water mixture as needed. i also use jml spray occasionally. it really helps the itch, but it also makes the flakes wet and heavy. i'll check with my consultant, but i need some itch/scratch help.
